Samaj Daniel, an eighth-grade student at Menifee Valley Middle School, has been selected for the U.S. World Baseball of San Diego team and will soon represent the United States on the international stage in Italy.
A Scholar-Athlete Bound for Italy
Beyond his athletic promise, Samaj carries a flawless 4.0 GPA across all three years of middle school, earning him the Presidential Educational Award and the Golden Pyramid Scholar Award, which honors students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher.
His dedication extends far beyond the classroom and the diamond. He has logged more than 1,000 hours of community service with local nonprofits, demonstrating a commitment to giving back that his mentors say defines his character.
On the field, Samaj is a versatile catcher who also excels at first base, second base, third base and shortstop. His coach, Fernando A. Meza, has repeatedly praised the youngster’s work ethic, noting that his drive in sports mirrors his approach to academics.
District leaders are equally proud. J. Kyle Root, president of the MUSD Governing Board, highlighted that Samaj’s selection showcases the district’s ability to produce global talent, and he expressed confidence that the young athlete will represent the community with distinction.
When asked about the upcoming journey, Samaj credits his faith and the unwavering support of his family and neighbors for his achievements, underscoring a humility that resonates with teammates and coaches alike.
