Eastern Illinois University’s women’s soccer program is entering the 2024 season with a roster that blends experience and ambition, a combination that has earned the team a second‑place preseason ranking in the Ohio Valley Conference.
A Veteran Squad
The Panthers bring back three first‑team All‑OVC selections from a year ago, including goalkeeper Ella Kratochvil, who was named OVC Goalkeeper of the Year, midfielder Alex Tetteh, and defender Colleen Bauer, giving the squad a solid foundation.
Among the standout returnees, midfielder Abby Reinl, a two‑time OVC Midfielder of the Year, and forward Brooklynn Greene are being highlighted as players to watch as they step into expanded roles.
The preseason poll placed Lindenwood at the top with nine first‑place votes, while EIU collected five votes to secure the runner‑up spot, and Southern Indiana followed in third with two votes, underscoring the competitive balance within the conference.
EIU will open its campaign with a home exhibition match against Southern Illinois on August 5, before traveling to face Valparaiso on August 13 at Lakeside Field for the regular‑season debut, a schedule that promises early tests against familiar foes.
Other programs such as UT Martin, SIUE, Southeast Missouri State, Morehead State and Western Illinois are also slated to contend, ensuring a deep and unpredictable conference slate.
Coach and staff are optimistic that the blend of veteran leadership and fresh talent will translate into a strong performance, aiming to improve on last season’s record and challenge for the conference title.
