Celebrating excellence on the diamond
The El Paso Times has released its 2026 All-City baseball team, a tribute to the region’s most outstanding high school players and coaches. The roster blends raw talent, clutch performances and leadership that defined a memorable season across the city’s programs.
At the heart of the selections is Drew Gonzalez, an infielder from Americas who earned Player of the Year honors. A Texas Tech commit, Gonzalez powered the lineup with 13 home runs and 54 runs batted in, underscoring his dual threat at the plate and in the field.
Coach of the Year Jesse Munoz, who leads the Americas Trailblazers, guided his squad to a District 2‑5A championship and a series of playoff victories. His strategic acumen and ability to rally his team were cited as key factors in the program’s resurgence.
The All-City team also recognizes a host of other standouts, from pitcher‑hitter hybrids like Bryan Garcia, who posted eight mound wins and a .465 batting average, to two‑way standout Johan Camacho, who combined a .341 hit rate with 102 strikeouts on the mound. Each honoree contributed uniquely, whether through dominant pitching, power hitting or defensive mastery.
Several district titles were secured by coaches such as Jesse Munoz and Ruben Hernandez, whose late‑season returns from injury sparked a playoff run for Riverside. Their teams’ successes reflect a competitive landscape where emerging programs challenge traditional powerhouses.
Beyond individual accolades, the All-City list highlights the pipeline to higher education, with multiple players committing to institutions like Texas Tech. These commitments signal a bright future for the region’s baseball talent and reinforce the city’s growing reputation on the collegiate stage.
As the season’s story continues to unfold, the El Paso community looks forward to next year’s prospects, confident that the foundation laid by this year’s All-City honorees will keep the momentum alive.
