At just eleven years old, Lee Caddell Jr. already commands attention on the soccer field. A sixth‑grader from Bourbonnais, Illinois, he helped his club, Chicago Magic FC, capture the Premier SuperCopa national championship in Florida. The triumph not only crowned the team with a coveted trophy but also earned them a berth in the prestigious IberCup tournament in Cascais, Portugal, where they will face some of Europe’s top youth sides.
A Family Legacy Fuels Ambition
Caddell’s achievement is especially notable because it follows a family tradition of excellence in the sport. His uncle, Shannon Seymour, once wore the colors of the Chicago Fire Academy and later coached at Fenwick. Inspired by his relative’s path, Lee has now secured a spot in the same academy, a move he credits to the unwavering support of his parents, grandparents, and younger brother.
The SuperCopa final was decided by penalty kicks, with Caddell’s side edging out Texas‑based VV FC after a tense shoot‑out. The victory was attended by Cheryl and Dennis Seymour, as well as Otto Caddell, who traveled to Florida to cheer on their grandson. The experience has left the young midfielder eager to test himself against international competition.
Looking ahead, Caddell says he is focused on sharpening his technique and learning from the academy’s coaches. “I’m grateful for the belief my family and coach have placed in me,” he said. “Playing in Portugal will be a huge step, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.”
