Elliott Cribby named head coach of UH Hilo baseball

A decade‑plus coaching veteran brings recruiting expertise and a family legacy to the program

Elliott Cribby has been appointed as the new head coach of the University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball program, taking the reins of a program eager for fresh leadership.

A family legacy meets new ambitions

Cribby arrives with more than ten years of Division‑I experience, having served in roles that combined pitching instruction, recruiting coordination and overall program development at several institutions.

During his tenure as associate head coach and pitching coach, he helped assemble four recruiting classes that cracked the nation’s top‑25, and he oversaw the development of 58 players who earned Major League Baseball draft selections.

His own playing career began at Columbia Basin College and the University of Washington, where he earned All‑PAC‑10 honors as a pitcher and recorded ten saves in 2006, placing him among the program’s single‑season leaders.

Off the field, Cribby holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s in athletic leadership from Washington, and he follows a family tradition — his father, Ed, also wore a Husky uniform.

University officials say the hire reflects a blend of analytical insight and player‑first philosophy that they expect will raise the program’s competitiveness in the Pacific West Conference.
