Elon University’s football program received a double dose of preseason acclaim this week as linebacker Brodie Carroll and placekicker Luke Barnes were both selected to the second‑team All‑America squad released by Stats Perform.
Preseason Honors Highlight Elon’s Defensive and Special‑Teams Strength
Carroll, who anchored the Elon defense in 2025 with a team‑high 104 tackles, also extended a streak of three consecutive games in which he recorded double‑digit tackle numbers, underscoring his consistency and impact on the field.
Barnes, meanwhile, enjoyed a breakout season by converting 14 of 15 field‑goal attempts and remaining flawless on 40 extra‑point tries, a reliability that helped the team close out several tight contests.
Their inclusion marks a first for Elon, as the two teammates become the inaugural pair from the school to earn preseason All‑America honors from Stats Perform in the same campaign, a milestone that reflects the program’s rising national profile.
The recognition also places Carroll and Barnes among an exclusive group, as they are the fourth and fifth players in Elon history to be named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All‑America list, joining previous honorees Jeff Yurk, Caleb Curtain and Cole Coleman.
The honors come as the Phoenix look to build on recent successes, with the coaching staff praising the work ethic of both players and the program’s trajectory.
