A Season of Dual Distinction
The Emporia State baseball team has been honored with the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 academic year, a testament to its commitment both on the diamond and in the classroom.
During the spring semester the squad posted a cumulative GPA of 3.53, and 18 of its players carried a 3.50 GPA or higher, underscoring a culture of scholarly achievement.

Coach John Martin, who guided the Hornets to a 37‑16 record, expressed pride in the team’s dual focus, noting that academic performance was never secondary to athletic ambition.
The season also delivered historic on‑field milestones, as the team captured the MIAA Tournament Championship Game appearance for the first time since 2018, finishing the year with a 37‑16 overall record.

Looking ahead, the Hornets aim to build on this momentum, targeting both a higher GPA and a deeper run in the MIAA playoffs, with the coaching staff emphasizing continuity in academic support and player development.
