Eric Borba, a 51‑year‑old coach with sixteen seasons at Orange Lutheran High School, is set to take the helm of the baseball program at Servite High School.
Borba stepped down after the 2024 season, when the Crusaders captured the CIF Southern California Regional Division 1 championship, concluding a tenure that featured three National High School Invitational titles and a decade‑long stretch in the national Top 25.
His decision to move is motivated by a desire to be closer to his son, Casey Borba, a senior at the University of Texas, and by his admiration for Servite’s baseball tradition, which includes an on‑campus field — a contrast to Orange Lutheran’s reliance on Hart Park in Orange for home games.
Borba’s career has spanned several all‑boys Catholic institutions, including De La Salle in Concord and Damien in La Verne, and he most recently served as national director of ZT Baseball for two years, keeping him deeply involved in youth development.
The transition follows a two‑week dialogue between Borba and Servite athletic director Matt Marrujo, who succeeded Shawn Gilbert, the coach who led Servite for twelve seasons before stepping away to focus on family in Arizona.
Borba and his wife Cindy also have a daughter, Mackenna, who attends Auburn University, underscoring the family considerations that shaped his coaching choice.
