UC Davis announced this week that Erica Adams will join the women's basketball program as an assistant coach, a move that underscores the university's ambition to compete strongly in the upcoming Mountain West Conference.
A Bay Area Native Returns Home
Adams, a Bay Area native from Oakland, brings a blend of playing experience and academic distinction that reflects the Aggies' commitment to student‑athlete excellence.
She spent three seasons at Pacific before completing her collegiate career at CSUN, where she helped the team to a Big West Academic All‑Conference selection and earned a place on the 2024 Academic Dean's List.
Adams graduated in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, an achievement that complemented her on‑court successes, including a freshman All‑WCC team nod and multiple championship contributions.
From Player to Coach
Her coaching journey began as a graduate assistant at Division II Concordia Irvine, where she helped guide the team to a 14‑14 record and a PacWest Conference Championship berth.
Beyond the college ranks, Adams has also contributed to her alma mater's summer basketball league and accumulated early mentorship experience that she says shapes her coaching philosophy.
Preparing for a New Era
With UC Davis gearing up for its transition into the Mountain West, Adams is eager to leverage her diverse background to help the program build on its recent progress.
In a statement, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying she is excited to contribute to the Aggies' success and to mentor the next generation of student‑athletes.
