Siena College announced this week that Erica Covile will serve as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program beginning with the 2026‑27 campaign. The move comes after a three‑year stint at Central Connecticut State, where she helped shape a roster that produced multiple All‑Conference and All‑Rookie honorees.
Covile’s career in coaching has been marked by a progression of responsibilities that span operations, recruiting, and player development. At Yale, she acted as Director of Women's Basketball Operations during the 2022‑23 season, overseeing logistics and program administration before returning to the sidelines.
Prior to her administrative role at Yale, Covile honed her coaching philosophy at Bryn Athyn College, focusing on the growth of individual athletes and the recruitment of talent that fits the program’s vision. Her experience on the court as a professional player overseas — spanning Romania, Spain, Belgium, Australia and Finland — has given her a nuanced understanding of diverse playing styles and competitive environments.
Before turning to coaching, Covile enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Temple University. She earned Third Team American Athletic Conference honors and Second Team Philadelphia Big 5 recognition, and during her senior season the Owls posted consecutive 20‑win campaigns. A memorable moment came when she secured a game‑winning putback with one second left, delivering a 68‑66 upset over nationally ranked USF.
Covile’s international playing résumé includes five years competing professionally across four continents, an experience that enriches her tactical insight and ability to mentor athletes from varied backgrounds. She graduated from Temple in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Adult & Organizational Development, underscoring a commitment to both athletic and academic excellence.
