The Erie Otters are marking a three‑decade milestone in the Ontario Hockey League, and the celebration comes with a fresh visual identity that ties the past to the present.
A Milestone in Franchise History
The new primary and secondary logos, unveiled ahead of the 2026‑27 season, blend nostalgic elements from the team’s early years with modern design cues, creating a look that feels both familiar and forward‑looking.
Red, a colour that has been absent from the Otters’ jersey striping for years, makes a bold return in the crest and badge, signalling a re‑connection with the franchise’s heritage while still respecting the current aesthetic.
Alongside the graphics, the club introduced a suite of new jerseys that feature the updated crest, though the striping remains in the traditional black and white, leaving the red strictly to the logo and giving the uniforms a distinctive, layered appearance.
The Otters’ history is punctuated by two OHL championships, in 2002 and 2017, and a rare stretch of four straight 50‑win seasons between 2013‑14 and 2016‑17, a period during which Connor McDavid honed his craft in Erie before rising to NHL stardom.
Looking ahead, the 2026‑27 schedule sees the Otters embark on a road‑heavy opening stretch, with six of their first seven games away from home, culminating in a home clash against the Kitchener Rangers on September 26.
