A surprising commitment
Errol Demontagnac, a defensive line prospect from Seffner, Florida, announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday, flipping his earlier pledge to the Florida State Seminoles.
The 6‑foot‑3, 280‑pound athlete posted a monster junior campaign at Armwood High School, tallying 87 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, six quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery while helping his team to an 11‑1 record.
Stat line and rankings
Ranked No. 855 overall and No. 98 among defensive linemen in the 247Sports composite, Demontagnac was considered a newer target for Florida State, which already holds two other defensive line commitments in four‑star edge rusher Anthony Cavallaro and three‑star lineman Eric Valux Jr.
The Seminoles remain in pursuit of another top defensive target, four‑star edge rusher Jason Lewis, and currently sit with seven verbal commitments in their 2027 recruiting class.
What it means for Florida State
The loss of a high‑profile commit does not derail the program’s momentum, as Florida State continues to chase elite talent on the defensive front and maintain a strong national profile.
Nebraska, meanwhile, gains a potent pass‑rusher in Demontagnac, who will look to add depth and disrupt opposing backfields in the upcoming season.
