Essex Post 91 has long been a cornerstone of Vermont baseball, boasting fourteen state championships that have cemented its reputation as the premier amateur program in the Green Mountain State.
This summer the team is turning its attention to the 2026 Northeast Regional tournament, a double‑elimination showcase that will be held at Fitton Field in Worcester, Massachusetts, from August 6 through August 9. The competition brings together the best Legion posts from across the region, each vying for the chance to advance to the Legion World Series.
At the heart of the Camels Hump LL squad is pitcher Mickey Brown, who delivered a strong outing of 4.1 innings with seven strikeouts in the recent state championship game. His performance helped the team clinch its first Vermont title and has raised expectations for the upcoming regional series.
Tournament outlook
Essex will open its schedule against Cumberland (R.I.) at 11 a.m. on August 6, a matchup that could set the tone for a deep run. The tournament format guarantees multiple chances, but only the Northeast Regional champion will earn a berth in the World Series, making every inning count.
