A Commitment Forged in Early Mornings
Ethan Jackson, a junior at Eustis High School, announced his commitment to Stetson University, ending a recruitment process that highlighted his dual-threat abilities on the mound and at the plate.
Coach Tony Thomas praised Jackson’s relentless work ethic, noting that the player’s habit of arriving before sunrise for extra drills and his willingness to embrace new roles have defined his development.
During his sophomore season the team posted a 17‑15 record and advanced to the FHSAA Regional Finals, with Jackson batting .330, collecting 30 hits and 27 RBIs while also posting a perfect 4‑0 record and 38 strikeouts as a pitcher.
His versatility has made him one of the most exciting prospects in Lake County, a region that has already seen former Eustis alumni such as Kerry Carpenter and Brady Singer contribute to Major League Baseball teams.
Stetson University will welcome a player who can immediately impact both the rotation and the lineup, reinforcing the program’s ambition to compete at the highest collegiate level.
The commitment underscores a broader trend of Lake County high schools producing talent that transitions smoothly to college and professional baseball, a pipeline that the Eustis program continues to nurture.
