He is only the second player in Florida Gulf Coast’s history to receive the unanimous honor, underscoring the program’s rising prominence on the national stage.
Dempsey’s 2026 campaign was defined by dominance on both sides of the mound and at the plate, as he started every one of his team’s 57 games and delivered a .333 batting average with 79 hits, including 18 doubles and 10 home runs.
Statistical supremacy
On the mound he posted a 7‑2 record with a 3.15 ERA, struck out 126 batters — the most in the league — and maintained a 1.06 WHIP while limiting opponents to a .209 average. At the plate his on‑base percentage of .412 and slugging percentage of .512 combined for an OPS of .948, while his 15 stolen bases came on just 17 attempts.
