Islanders name Evan Gold as assistant GM and AHL affiliate GM
The New York Islanders announced a significant front‑office addition on Tuesday, naming Evan Gold to a dual role that will see him serve as both assistant general manager and general manager of the club’s AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Hammers.
Gold, who spent the last twelve years within the Boston Bruins organization, brings a blend of analytical acumen and player development expertise to a role that will encompass contract negotiations, roster construction, scouting initiatives and salary‑cap strategy for the Islanders’ farm team.
His appointment follows a successful tenure as general manager of the Providence Bruins, the Bruins’ own AHL club, where he guided the team to a 54‑16‑2 record and captured the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the league’s regular‑season champion during the 2023‑24 season.
Gold will work alongside assistant general managers Ryan Bowness, Chris Lamoriello and Steve Pellegrini, forming a collaborative leadership group that the Islanders hope will translate into sustained competitiveness at both the NHL and AHL levels.

Beyond his professional credentials, Gold is a Toronto native who completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University before earning both a law degree and an MBA from the University of Toronto, experiences he says have sharpened his approach to the business side of hockey.
