Evan Otten, the Redmond High School graduate celebrated for his rim‑protecting instincts, has officially signed with the University of Arizona’s men’s basketball team.
Otten’s decision comes after a two‑year stint at Idaho State, where he earned the 2025 Big Sky Freshman of the Year honor and secured a spot on the Big Sky All‑Defensive Team as a sophomore.
A Defensive Anchor Joins a Powerhouse
The Wildcats, who finished the previous season at 36‑3 and captured the Big 12 championship before advancing to the Final Four, are bolstering their frontcourt with Otten’s 13.1 rebounds per game average.
Coach Tommy Lloyd praised the young big man’s ability to alter shots and control the boards, noting that his presence should deepen Arizona’s defensive identity.
Otten’s high school career at Redmond saw him average 16.5 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, guiding the Panthers to back‑to‑back Class 5A semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023.
