Cross Creek High School has appointed Ezzard Horn as its new head coach for the boys basketball program, stepping in after the departure of longtime mentor Lawrence Kelly.
A Legacy of Revival
Horn, who has served as an assistant coach for several seasons, played a pivotal role in transforming the team’s culture, guiding them to state titles in 2021, 2022 and 2026. His strategic adjustments and player development skills have been credited with turning a struggling program into a consistent contender.
The new head coach inherits a roster that looks to build on that momentum, with senior forward Frashad Tisby emerging as the team’s top-rated talent from Augusta. Tisby’s scoring ability and defensive versatility are expected to be central to the squad’s push for a second straight championship in the 2020s.
Horn will continue to double‑coach the football team this fall, a arrangement he says will persist until a scheduled transition to full‑time basketball duties in the winter months.
Looking Ahead
With the offseason underway, Horn is already mapping out strategies for the upcoming campaign, emphasizing discipline, depth, and community involvement. Fans and alumni alike are eager to see whether the coach can translate his recent successes into another title run.
