The Alleged Scheme
According to court filings, Mohamed promised a week‑long soccer camp in Italy to families who had previously participated in his youth programs. He collected between $2,000 and $12,000 from each of the 13 identified victims, amounting to roughly $70,000 in total.
Prosecutors say Mohamed leveraged his connections with the Alexandria Soccer Association to gain the trust of parents, then used the proceeds to finance personal expenses while maintaining the façade of a legitimate coaching business.
Legal Proceedings
Federal authorities charged Mohamed with 13 counts of embezzlement and 13 counts of computer fraud, alleging that he used electronic communications to conceal the illicit transfers. He was arrested on June 30 and subsequently released on bail while the case proceeds.
