Ahmed Mohamed, a coach with the Alexandria Soccer Association, was taken into custody on June 30 in the Fair Oaks area of Fairfax County. Authorities have now charged him with 13 counts of embezzlement and 13 counts of computer fraud, alleging that he schemed to steal close to $60,000 from at least 13 families.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit, the investigation began on June 25 when a report surfaced about a promised international soccer camp in Italy that never took place. Detectives quickly identified a pattern of deception that targeted parents seeking elite training opportunities for their children.
Scope of the Alleged Fraud
Investigators say Mohamed created the Sporting Soccer Academy in December 2025 and used his position with the Alexandria Soccer Association to lure families into paying for a camp that was never organized. Each victim reportedly lost between $2,000 and $12,000, amounts that added up to nearly $60,000 in total.
Although Mohamed was released on his own recognizance following his arrest, the case remains open. Police are continuing to gather information and have asked anyone with additional details to come forward.
