The Rattlers baseball program is entering a period of transition as the NCAA Transfer Portal has ushered out eight of the nine regular starters and two of three rotational players.

Among those departing, Jackson McKenzie, a two‑way standout, has headed to Florida State, while third‑base starter Jay Campbell has committed to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
Coach Jamey Shouppe, now in his second season at the helm, remains upbeat about the talent arriving on campus. The freshman class includes Christian Sheffield, son of former MLB All‑Star Gary Sheffield, and a group of right‑handed pitchers and infielders signed from the portal.
Shouppe has described the incoming group as the strongest he has ever assembled, emphasizing the need to acclimate newcomers to the team's system and to identify the best nine for the upcoming schedule.
The coaching staff is already working to integrate the new pieces, focusing on chemistry and competition as the Rattlers prepare for a demanding season.
