The Farmersville Youth Soccer Camp drew a record 135 youngsters this summer, a dramatic rise from the 35 to 40 participants it attracted just four years ago. The surge mirrors the growing popularity of high school soccer in the town, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams have enjoyed recent playoff runs and their best season in 2024.
Coaches and community support drive the momentum
Head coach Barrett Clark and Rebecca Christ, who also serves as an assistant, organized the camp with the help of current and former players. They made use of two regulation‑size fields to accommodate all participants, structuring the day with warm‑ups, ball‑control exercises, passing drills, striking practice and a possession drill for the older kids.
After a series of intense drills, the campers cooled off on a bright Slip N Slide that quickly became the highlight of the session. The activity offered a fun break while reinforcing teamwork and camaraderie among the participants.
Both Clark and Christ expressed optimism that the momentum will translate into more players stepping onto the high school pitch in the coming years. They credited the Farmersville Youth Soccer Association for its pivotal role in expanding the sport’s reach and preparing kids for the demands of high school competition.
