Farragut High School has appointed Derek Wright as its new boys soccer coach, taking over from Bradley Culbreth after the latter’s six‑year stint that produced a 13‑2‑2 record and a third‑place finish in District 4‑3A.
A Homecoming for a Alumni
Wright, a Farragut alumnus who previously served as an assistant coach and led both middle‑school girls and boys soccer teams for three years, spent the last six seasons coaching basketball and soccer at Farragut Middle School.
His father, Wallie Culbreth, once headed the program in the early 2000s, guiding the Admirals to four Class 3A championships between 2002 and 2015, a lineage that adds a layer of continuity to the team’s tradition.
Donald Dodgen, Farragut’s athletic director, said the school is thrilled to welcome Wright back, citing his intimate knowledge of the program and his proven ability to develop young talent.
The hiring was officially announced on August 12, marking the start of a new chapter for a squad that aims to build on the strong foundation laid by Culbreth.
