Federal investigators have opened a sweeping inquiry into the Argentine Football Association, alleging that tens of millions of dollars in revenue have been siphoned through a web of Miami shell companies.
Banking records examined by the Herald reveal that these entities, many operating out of modest virtual offices, received deposits that lack any clear commercial justification, raising suspicions that the funds were funneled to senior AFA officials for personal enrichment.
The financial trail includes payments that read like a luxury ledger: transfers to private jet operators, charter yachts in southern Europe, and even a South Beach hair salon, as well as credit‑card purchases at major banks that were used for high‑end consumer spending.
The Role of TourProdEnter
Central to the U.S. investigation is TourProdEnter, LLC, a company founded by Javier Faroni that was appointed as AFA’s commercial agent. According to the filing, the firm amassed at least $290 million in deposits, a portion of which was redistributed to a handful of Miami‑based firms now under federal scrutiny.
Among the most striking transfers were nearly $3.6 million funneled to companies offering private jet services, over $1 million earmarked for luxury yacht charters, and a $100,000 payment to a hair‑product supplier linked to an upscale salon in South Beach. Additional wires of $40,000 to María Florencia Sartirana, partner of Toviggino, further illustrate the personal nature of the expenditures.
Bank of America accounts tied to TourProdEnter were found to hold issued credit cards in the names of Faroni and Erica Gillette, allowing the executives to charge personal expenses directly to the company’s ledger. While the pattern of transactions is clear, federal prosecutors have yet to file any charges, and legal experts caution that such investigations often span years before any indictments emerge.
