Bhatia, who is married to a daughter of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, has assembled a group of investors eager to become part‑owners of the Premier League side. He stepped down as chairman of Queens Park Rangers in 2023 after a five‑year tenure, positioning himself for a new venture in English football.
A period of sustained success
The potential deal comes as Liverpool enjoys a period of sustained success. Under FSG’s stewardship the club captured the Premier League title in 2020, followed by another championship last season, tying Manchester United on 20 English league crowns. The club also lifted the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and reached two additional finals under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp, losing narrowly to Real Madrid in both 2018 and 2022.
