A Season of Expectations
The Fenwick High School football program entered the new season riding the momentum of last year’s IHSA state championship, a title they captured with an 11‑3 record. The victory set a benchmark for performance and discipline that the coaching staff and players are eager to uphold.
Their first test will come on August 21, when they travel to face Joliet Catholic, a perennial rival that always brings a heightened intensity to the opening week.
Jake Thies' Next Chapter
Among the returning standouts is rising senior Jake Thies, who not only helped drive the team to the championship but also posted 1,729 yards of total offense and 20 touchdowns a season ago. Defensively he contributed five interceptions, three forced fumbles and nine tackles for loss, underscoring his two‑way impact.
Thies has pledged to use the offseason to become faster, stronger and more polished, a mindset he says will be essential when the team confronts a demanding schedule.
Off the field, his brother Tommy will begin his collegiate career at Miami University of Ohio this fall, adding a family narrative of ambition that fuels Jake’s drive.
The coaching staff has emphasized that the work done in the summer conditioning sessions will be the foundation for a campaign that aims to defend the title while navigating a tough slate of opponents.
