Coaches and referees convene for workshops, mentoring program selections

The 2026 FIBA European Women’s Basketball Summit marked the 20‑year anniversary of the event, gathering 46 participants in Postojna, Slovenia, from July 7 to 11. The milestone highlighted the summit’s longstanding role in developing women’s basketball across the continent.

The program featured a blend of workshops, clinics and practical exercises, including on‑court sessions with the Slovenian U16 women’s national team, aimed at sharpening rules interpretation, game analysis and officiating skills.

Coaching instruction was led by Stella Katsidou, Camille Aubert and Milena Moulisova, while referee instruction was overseen by Chantal Julien and Sonia Teixeira.

Mentoring Program Highlights

Five coaches — Tereza Vyoralova, Lisa‑Marie Gewald, Vanja Mudresa, Elaine Scally and Josipa Silov — and three referees — Jennifer Schuster, Dalma Sellei and Oliwia Tobola — were selected for the FIBA Europe Mentoring Program, which will provide virtual webinars and individual mentoring throughout the year.

Participants will engage in a series of virtual webinars and receive personalized mentoring, ensuring continuous development of coaching and refereeing expertise across the continent.

The milestone underscores FIBA’s commitment to nurturing talent in women’s basketball, fostering collaboration among national federations and reinforcing the sport’s growth throughout Europe.
