Her World Her Rules Expands Gender Equality in Basketball
The FIBA Foundation has unveiled the 2026 cohort of its Basketball For Good initiative, selecting 100 projects from a record 400 submissions across 79 nations — a 20% jump from the previous year.
Each approved project will receive financial backing, equipment donations and entry into a global community of practitioners, enabling grassroots programs to thrive in underserved regions.
A centerpiece of the new edition is the integration of the Her World Her Rules (HWHR) platform, which seeks to boost female participation and promote gender parity through the sport. HWHR’s impact now spans 46 projects in 43 countries, including 11 newly added nations, and engages more than 150 National Federations worldwide.
Since its inception, HWHR has reached over 180,000 girls, providing them with pathways to play, lead and inspire. The expanded partnership with Basketball For Good amplifies this reach, linking local outreach with a broader network of support.
The Foundation emphasizes that basketball’s core values — teamwork, discipline and resilience — serve as a catalyst for education and empowerment among youth. By coupling resources with mentorship, the initiative aims to create lasting social change.
Looking ahead, the 2026 cohort is poised to deepen its impact, leveraging the combined reach of Basketball For Good and HWHR to foster inclusive communities and broaden the sport’s global footprint.
