Field Hockey Canada is reaching out to the sport community as part of a broader discussion about a recent federal funding injection aimed at bolstering the sport across Canada.

CEO Susan Ahrens recently convened a round‑table with officials from Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee and other national sport organisations to explore how the new resources will be allocated and governed.
The conversation covered a spectrum of issues, including strategies to increase participation, deepen athlete engagement and diversify revenue streams, all while underscoring the need for transparent stewardship.
Ahrens stressed that the influx of funding brings a responsibility to demonstrate strong accountability, noting that the organization is committed to building a more sustainable foundation for field hockey in the country.
The additional resources are slated to flow directly to athletes and to the wider sport system, reinforcing the government’s pledge to strengthen Canada’s sporting infrastructure.
Looking ahead, Field Hockey Canada says it will keep the conversation open with Sport Canada, its peers, members and the broader community, seeking input as it shapes the next phase of development.
