Finn Norsen ’28 arrived at the Western Mass Pioneers with a camera and a hunger for experience, quickly finding himself thrust into the heart of the league’s visual narrative.
Tasked with documenting pregame rituals, match‑winning celebrations and the behind‑the‑scenes hustle, he edited hundreds of images, stitched together highlight reels and even helped craft digital matchday programs that reached fans across social platforms.
Working closely with players like striker Martin Echarren, who would often point to him after a goal, Norsen learned how a single frame could capture the raw emotion of a game and the camaraderie that defines a team.
Mentorship and Growth
Under the guidance of Hamilton Athletics photographer Josh McKee, Norsen refined his editing technique and gained confidence in the fast‑paced world of sports photography, turning raw footage into polished stories that resonated with coaches, fans and teammates alike.
The mentorship extended beyond technical skill; it instilled a professional work ethic and a network of contacts that now stretches from the collegiate level to the broader New England soccer community.
Looking Ahead
Returning to Hamilton Athletics this fall, Norsen brings a sharper eye and a growing portfolio, eager to apply the lessons learned on the sidelines of the Western Mass Pioneers to larger stages. His ultimate goal is to photograph professional soccer matches, a ambition shaped by a summer that blended art, sport and community.
