Andy Fowler, a paramedic with the St. Charles Ambulance District and one of the event’s organizers, says the gathering is more than a game; it is a chance to raise awareness and funds for the families left behind when first responders fall.
All proceeds go to BackStoppers, an organization that provides financial and emotional support to the loved ones of fallen responders. Fowler notes that his department has already relied on the group’s assistance in three separate cases, underscoring the tangible impact of the charity.
