A New Chapter for FIU Baseball
Rich Witten ended his four‑year tenure as the FIU baseball coach, a period that produced 98 career victories and helped several players earn MLB Draft selections.
During his early years the Panthers improved each season, posting 21 wins in 2023, 27 in 2024 and 31 in 2025, and the team secured spots in the Conference USA Tournament in both 2024 and 2025.
The most recent campaign, however, ended with a 19‑35 record, prompting the university to announce the conclusion of Witten’s leadership and to begin a transition toward a new direction, with Scott Carr and Natalie Witten remaining part of the program’s broader community.
Based in Miami, Florida, the team is affiliated with Florida International University, a public institution that will now search for a successor to continue building on its recent tournament appearances.
