A Season Defined by Momentum
The Florida International University Panthers are preparing for a defining 2026 campaign as head coach Willie Simmons begins his second year at the helm. The program’s breakthrough bowl victory in 2025, the first in six seasons, has set a high bar for performance and optimism among players, staff and fans alike.
A fall camp scheduled for August 7 will kick off a series of 21 practices, the majority of which will be conducted on campus fields adjacent to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The intensive schedule is designed to sharpen tactics, foster chemistry and instill the discipline needed to sustain early‑season success.
The centerpiece of the calendar is the season opener against the University of South Florida in Tampa on September 5. The matchup, steeped in regional rivalry, promises heightened intensity and serves as a litmus test for the Panthers’ readiness after a promising offseason.
Access and Logistics for Observers
Media representatives will be allowed to attend the final 30 minutes of each practice, provided they submit a credential request to Darin Yrigoyen in advance. This controlled access ensures that coverage can capture key moments while maintaining the team’s focus during drills.
Members of the Panther Club can secure spots at public sessions by notifying Matthew Lisiewski, though general public attendance remains restricted to preserve the integrity of the training environment.
Parking for journalists and invited guests will be directed to Lot 10 near the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, streamlining logistics and minimizing disruptions on practice days.
