Five Arrested in Murder of Former Ole Miss Star Idarrious Bowie

A tragic shooting in Rankin County has left a community mourning and authorities pursuing multiple charges.

A 27‑year‑old former college football standout was gunned down on the evening of June 5 in northern Rankin County, Mississippi, after a disturbance turned violent.

Idarrious Iantron Bowie, a graduate of Morton High School and a former four‑star wide receiver who once topped the state’s recruiting rankings, had played at the University of Mississippi before transferring to Jackson State University. He was also a 2016 Dandy Dozen selection and had previously signed with Ole Miss before leaving the program for personal reasons in 2018.

Bowie was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. Five individuals have since been arrested in connection with the shooting. Ladarious J. Harrison and Dominick Sanabria now face murder charges, while Semiko N. Crump and Kaylee D. Trimble are charged with accessory after the fact of murder. An additional suspect, Michael Jerome Mitchell, was later taken into custody on a similar accessory charge.

Investigation Continues

Authorities have recovered a firearm believed to be linked to the incident and continue to investigate possible motives and additional participants. The Rankin County Sheriff's Office has indicated that further arrests remain possible as the case unfolds.

The community has mourned Bowie’s loss, remembering him not only for his athletic achievements but also for his contributions off the field. As the legal process moves forward, the case underscores the ongoing impact of gun violence on young athletes and their families.
