Hillsdale College announced that five of its baseball standouts have been selected for the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, a distinction that underscores their performance both on the diamond and in the classroom.
Balancing Bat, Glove, and Books
To earn the honor, athletes must be regular starters or key contributors and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, reflecting the program’s emphasis on scholarly achievement.
Among the honorees, senior Rocco Tenuta returns to the All-District list after a sophomore season that also earned him the accolade, having led the Chargers with six home runs and 41 RBIs while batting .298.
Junior Aaron Jasiak, a utility infielder, posted a .285 average with 32 RBIs, tied for the team lead in doubles (13) and stole 16 bases, while also anchoring a strong infield defense.
Center‑fielder Gaard Swenson topped the lineup with a .365 average, a .526 slugging percentage and a .436 on‑base mark, and his 16 stolen bases placed him among the Midwest’s most dangerous leadoff threats.
Pitchers Josh Novak and Brenden Smith rounded out the group, with Novak posting a 2.49 ERA and six saves, and Smith delivering four wins, a 4.29 ERA and 46 strikeouts across 11 starts.
Looking Forward to 2027
All five players are slated to return for the 2027 campaign, giving the Chargers a deep roster as they chase the Great Midwest Athletic Conference title.
