Recognizing athletic and academic excellence among the 2026 roster

The College Sports Communicators announced that five members of the Gustavus Adolphus baseball team have been selected to the 2026 Academic All-District squad, an honor that celebrates both athletic performance and academic achievement.

Academic Excellence Across the Board

Seniors Tomas Nelson and Ross Hebel are joined by juniors Simon James and Brayden Kohls, while sophomore Jackson Golberg completes the group, each bringing a distinct academic focus and a record of scholarly distinction.

Nelson, a Computer Science major, posted a 3.784 GPA, and Hebel, a double major in Chemistry and Economics, achieved a 3.953 GPA, underscoring the program’s commitment to intellectual rigor.

James, pursuing a Social Studies Teaching degree, maintained a 3.608 GPA, and Kohls, a Nursing student, earned a 3.66 GPA; both were recognized as MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mentions, as was Golberg, who studies Exercise Physiology with a 3.723 GPA.

Kohls stands out as the only repeat honoree among the five, having previously earned the distinction in the prior season, a testament to his sustained excellence on the field and in the classroom.

The team concluded the 2026 campaign with a 19-20 overall record and a 10-10 mark within the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, reflecting a competitive spirit that matched their academic ambitions.

Beyond individual accolades, the group’s collective performance contributed to the program’s growing reputation, a narrative that the College Sports Communicators highlighted in their official announcement.
