Five Liberty Flames Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for 2026

Players excel academically and athletically, highlighting program's scholarly tradition

The 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team has announced its latest cohort, honoring five members of the Liberty Flames roster for their outstanding performance both on the mound and in the classroom.

To earn a spot on the district squad, each student-athlete had to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 while meeting stringent participation thresholds that measure competitive involvement throughout the season.

Liberty’s program boasts a proud academic legacy, having accumulated 29 CSC Academic All-District recognitions over its history and produced six CSC Academic All-Americans who have gone on to national acclaim.

Spotlight on the Honorees

Among the honorees, senior right-hander Josh Swink secures his second consecutive CSC Academic All-District nod. Swink posted a 3-3 record with a 4.15 earned run average across 56 ⅓ innings, while also logging three saves. His academic record reflects a 3.71 GPA in sport management, underscoring a commitment that extends beyond the diamond.

Bradley Zayac, a semifinalist for the 2026 National Pitcher of the Year award, finished the year 9-1 with a 3.64 ERA in 16 appearances. The junior, pursuing an interdisciplinary studies degree, carries a 3.52 GPA, blending scholarly rigor with athletic ambition.

Outfielder Josh Campos started every one of the Flames’ 64 games, batting .259 with 12 home runs. His 3.90 GPA in sport management highlights a balanced approach to his collegiate experience.

Jordan Jaffe, a business administration major, hit .326 with three homers and 45 runs batted in during his lone season in Lynchburg. Jaffe’s academic distinction was further recognized when he earned co-national honors as the Dick Howser Trophy Hitter of the Week, maintaining a 3.50 GPA.

Finally, Kyle Hvidsten, who appeared in a single season for Liberty, posted a .204 average with six home runs and 20 RBI. His perfect 4.0 GPA in psychology adds another chapter to the team’s growing list of scholar-athletes.

A Tradition of Excellence

The recognition not only celebrates individual achievement but also reinforces Liberty’s reputation as a program where competitive success and academic excellence coexist. As the Flames prepare for the upcoming campaign, the five scholars will serve as role models for younger teammates striving to balance the rigors of NCAA baseball with demanding coursework.
