All-SEC Honors Highlight Rebels' Season
The Southeastern Conference recently released its 2026 All-SEC Baseball Team, spotlighting the league’s top performers from across the region. Among the honorees, five members of the Ole Miss Rebels earned spots, underscoring the program’s continued strength.
Walker Hooks, a right‑handed reliever for Ole Miss, secured a First Team All‑SEC berth, joining just two other relievers in the elite group. Hooks finished the season with a 3‑1 record, a 2.12 ERA and seven saves in 22 appearances, numbers that helped him set new conference benchmarks.
Historic First for Walker Hooks
His achievement marks a historic milestone, as he becomes the first Rebel to earn First Team All‑SEC honors since Jacob Gonzalez in 2022, a testament to the program’s resurgence under head coach Mike Bianco.
On the offensive side, Will Furniss, Cade Townsend and Judd Utermark were each named to the Second Team at their respective positions. Furniss leads the Rebels with a .322 batting average and a .439 on‑base percentage, while Utermark tops the squad in slugging percentage (.649), runs scored (66), hits (67), home runs (20) and total bases (137). Townsend, meanwhile, anchors the pitching staff with a 3.81 ERA, a .218 opponent batting average and 26 strikeouts looking.
Defensive Excellence
Hunter Elliott earned the sole pitcher slot on the All‑Defensive Team, leading all Rebels with 96 strikeouts and 71.0 innings pitched, and he also recorded four pickoffs during the season. His durability and command have positioned him as a key piece for the club’s future.
The recognitions reflect a broader trend of excellence for Ole Miss baseball, a program that continues to develop talent both on the mound and at the plate. With veterans like Doug Nikhazy, Parker Caracci and a coaching staff led by Mike Bianco, the Rebels look poised to contend in the upcoming campaign.
