Albert Simien, a five-star offensive lineman from Lake Charles, Louisiana, announced his commitment to the University of Notre Dame on Tuesday, choosing the Fighting Irish over heavily pursued suitors LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
The decision followed three campus visits, including an official trip in June, during which Simien said he was impressed by Notre Dame’s academic reputation and the genuine rapport he built with the coaching staff.
A Multisport Phenomenon
Simien’s athletic résumé extends beyond football. He has excelled in basketball and track, earned multiple all-state honors, and competed at the 2026 Under Armour All-American Game and the Polynesian Bowl. Rivals analyst Charles Power has compared his style to former Ohio State lineman Donovan Jackson.
The commitment marks the fifth offensive-line pledge for Notre Dame’s 2027 recruiting class and represents a rare landing of a top Louisiana prospect, a state from which the program has not signed a player since the 2023 cycle.
Coaches emphasized the university’s blend of rigorous academics and personalized development as key factors in Simien’s choice, a narrative that resonated with the recruit’s own priorities.
