Academic Excellence on the Ice
The American Hockey Coaches Association announced its 2025‑26 Krampade All‑American Scholar list, honoring five members of the William Smith College women's hockey team for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 while meeting the required game participation threshold.
All five student‑athletes satisfied the academic benchmark and contributed to the team’s competitive schedule, illustrating the program’s commitment to developing scholars as well as athletes.
Fiona Gallagher distinguished herself with her third career scholar award, while Julia Chase and Kelly Howe each added a second consecutive honor to their records. Mia Iwicki and Seneca Urban earned the distinction for the first time, rounding out a diverse group of high‑achieving players.
Since the initiative began in 2017, William Smith hockey players have collected 58 AHCA All‑American Scholar awards, a testament to a culture that prizes academic achievement alongside athletic performance.
Season Highlights
The Herons concluded the 2025‑26 season with a 12‑15 overall record, placed fourth in the SUNYAC conference standings and advanced to the conference semifinals before falling to Plattsburgh.
