Coach Jon Sumrall's first full recruiting class for the Florida Gators has been ranked third nationally, comprising 22 commitments that include 15 blue‑chip prospects. The class trails only the 2027 hauls of Texas A&M and Oklahoma, underscoring the competitive nature of the SEC's recruiting landscape.
Among the standouts is Jaydee Lane, a three‑star long snapper from Mississippi who opted for Florida after a preferred walk‑on offer from Mississippi State, while Ellis McGaskin, a three‑star linebacker from Alabama, chose the Gators over LSU and Florida State. The class also features Kamarion Johnson, a three‑star athlete from Georgia who received 13 offers, and Cahron Wheeler, a four‑star defensive lineman from Maryland who passed on Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Maryland.
Key Commitments
Zahmar Tookes, the top player from New York in the 2027 class, pledged to Florida, as did Ja'Bios Smith, a four‑star linebacker from Georgia who turned down Georgia, Texas Tech, South Carolina and Texas A&M. In‑state standout Elias Pearl, the highest‑ranked Florida recruit, joins Andrew Beard, the sole running back in the class, and Stive‑Bentley Keumajou Yondui, who selected Florida over Georgia, Miami, Texas and Auburn.
The Gators also secured Kailib Dillard, the only safety in the 2027 class, and Elijah Hutcheson, the second‑ranked offensive tackle from Virginia, while Peyton Miller, a ninth‑ranked interior offensive lineman from Texas, adds depth to the interior line. De'Voun Kendrick became the first defensive lineman to commit in the 2027 class, and Anthony Jennings, a four‑star wide receiver tied for the most offers at 39, reinforces the receiving corps.

With Maxwell Hiller, the highest‑rated recruit in the class, and a geographic spread that stretches from Mendenhall, Mississippi, to Coatesville, Pennsylvania, the coaching staff believes the talent pool can propel the team back toward the top of the SEC.
