Rising Stars Recognized
D1Baseball has announced its second‑team All‑America selections, honoring Florida’s Aidan King and Brendan Lawson among the nation’s most outstanding collegiate players.
Mound Mastery
King, who earned a unanimous nod from all five major publications, compiled an 8‑2 record with a 3.21 earned‑run average over 97 innings, while limiting opponents to a .218 batting average and posting a strikeout‑to‑walk ratio of 4.84; his 0.89 WHIP in SEC play and six quality starts underscore his dominance on the mound.
The right‑hander also earned the distinction of National Pitcher of the Month in April from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, a testament to his consistency and impact during conference play.
Breakout at the Plate
Lawson, a shortstop who started 51 of 56 games, posted career‑best numbers across the board, including an OPS that surged past .900, 48 runs batted in, and a .409/.567/1.023 slash line over a 12‑game stretch in which he homered eight times.
His defensive work also showed marked improvement, as he committed just a single error over the final two weeks of the season, highlighting a well‑rounded contribution to the Gators’ success.
The recognition reflects the collaborative efforts of the publications that compile these honors, including D1Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, both of which have long chronicled the achievements of collegiate baseball talent.
