Florida baseball has secured a commitment from former Oklahoma Sooners outfielder Drew Dickerson, a move that adds a proven bat to the Gators’ lineup heading into the next season.
Dickerson, a 6‑foot‑4‑inch, 210‑pound athlete from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, brings a blend of size and skill that caught the eye of Florida’s coaching staff.
During his two‑year stint with the Sooners, he slashed .294/.405/.535, hitting nine home runs and eight doubles in 170 at‑bats, and posted a .281 average with four homers in 35 games last season.
His freshman year was even more impressive, posting a .309 average with 25 hits, 19 RBIs, 15 walks and three stolen bases, earning him the second‑ranked shortstop in Missouri and a top‑50 national prospect status.
A reshaping roster
The Gators are also navigating a wave of transfers, with seven pitchers entering the portal, including McCall Biemiller, Eli Blair, Matthew Jenkins, Rivers Kurland, Cooper Moss, Christian Rodriguez and Cooper Walls.
Position players such as starting second baseman Cade Kurland are heading to LSU, while infielders Kolt Myers and outfielder Blake Brookins have also announced their departures.
Adding to the influx of new talent, Florida received a commitment from former FGCU catcher Jon Embury, the 2026 ASUN Player of the Year, and later added southpaw Trey Morris from Oregon State and infielder Kyle McDaniel from Utah State.
Other recent additions include FAU infielder John Martinez, who announced his return to Gainesville, right‑hander Zach Edwards from Oregon State, JUCO slugger Caden Davidson and Samford catcher Everett Marshall.
These moves reflect a dynamic offseason for the program, as the coaching staff blends experienced transfers with home‑grown talent to compete in the highly competitive SEC.
