Florida’s baseball program is set to stage a neutral‑site exhibition on October 24, when the Gators travel to Pensacola to face the Troy Trojans at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
A historic return to Pensacola
The matchup marks the first meeting between the two schools in Pensacola since 2013, a year that saw Florida square off against Georgia Tech at the same venue. It also comes just months after Troy eliminated the Gators from the Gainesville Regional with a pair of championship‑game defeats at Condron Family Ballpark.
The exhibition is part of a broader fall slate organized by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double‑A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. The club has scheduled six NCAA Tournament teams, including Florida State, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia Tech, to meet growing demand from local fans and to showcase the city’s baseball culture.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos president Jonathan Griffith praised the enthusiastic response to fall baseball, noting that the schedule’s variety has reignited community interest and provided a platform for new fans to experience the stadium atmosphere.
In addition to the Gators‑Trojans game, the schedule features an October 10 showdown between Florida State and Auburn, followed by an October 17 clash of Alabama and Georgia Tech. Each contest is expected to draw sizable crowds, underscoring the region’s appetite for high‑level college baseball outside the traditional spring season.
Beyond the on‑field action, the events aim to deepen ties between the universities, the minor‑league franchise and the Pensacola community, positioning the city as a hub for postseason baseball activity in the lead‑up to the College World Series.
