In the Rural classification, Jeffrey Brugh from Union County earned Player of the Year honors, his .385 average and 21 stolen bases helping the county capture its first state title in decades.
Coach Jiwan James, also of Union County, was recognized as Rural Class Coach of the Year after steering his squad to a 24‑7 season and the Rural state championship.
Commitments and Future Plans
Honeycutt has pledged to continue his career at the University of Florida, while Brugh has committed to Glenville State University in West Virginia, a move that could reshape the upcoming recruiting landscape.
The finalists for the Mr. Baseball and Coach of the Year awards were determined through a statewide ballot, underscoring the broad participation of coaches, players and fans across Florida’s high school baseball community.
Other notable mentions include Roen Kresak of Buchholz High School, who finished third in the voting for Class 6A Player of the Year, and Chris Malphurs, Buchholz’s coach, who placed second in the Class 6A Coach of the Year race.
The recognition extends beyond individual accolades, reflecting the depth of talent nurtured by programs that feed into major collegiate conferences, from the University of Miami to Auburn University.
