A demanding non‑conference slate
Florida State University’s men’s basketball program released its non‑conference schedule for the 2026‑27 season on Thursday, outlining a 14‑game slate that blends home contests, neutral‑site battles and a single road test. The plan calls for nine home games, three neutral‑site matchups and one away game, with four of those contests pitting the Seminoles against Power Four opponents.
The first test arrives on November 2, when the team travels to Tampa to open the season against Florida A&M. That early‑season road game sets a tone of competition before the ACC schedule begins, and it will be followed by a series of home fixtures that include a showdown with the in‑state rival Florida on November 10.
Home games will also feature contests against Troy on November 6, Texas A&M‑Corpus Christi on November 13, Ball State on November 17, Green Bay on November 20 and UNC Asheville on November 24. The Seminoles will host Dayton on December 5 and close the regular non‑conference portion with a December 22 matchup against Bethune‑Cookman.
Neutral‑site games are slated for Jacksonville on December 20 and Houston on December 12, while the lone road game beyond the opening contest will take the team to Knoxville on December 1 to face Tennessee. These venues add geographic variety and provide opportunities to gauge the team’s adaptability in different environments.
Coach’s vision
In October, the Seminoles will participate in three exhibition games against Mississippi State, Auburn and LSU, giving Coach Luke Loucks a chance to experiment with lineups and evaluate depth before the regular season begins. Loucks emphasized that the schedule’s purpose is to challenge the team early, sharpen competitive instincts and generate excitement among fans across Florida. By confronting high‑level opponents before ACC play, the program hopes to enter conference competition ready to contend.
