Florida State University has officially entered the recruitment race for Stevan Thornton III, a three-star edge prospect who has attracted attention from several of the nation’s premier programs.
A Rising Star in the 2026 Class
Hailing from Cairo High School in Georgia, Thornton is ranked No. 451 overall and sits at No. 45 among edge rushers in the 2026 class according to Rivals. His performance on the field has already placed him among the top 50 prospects in the state, a testament to his disruptive pass-rush ability.
The offer from the Seminoles adds to a growing list of suitors that includes Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, each of which has courted the young defender throughout his junior season.
During his junior year, Thornton logged 91 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and eight sacks, numbers that underscore his impact as a pass-rusher and run-stopper.
Coaches at Florida State see in Thornton a player who can immediately contribute to their defensive front, potentially reshaping the team’s pass-rush dynamics in the upcoming season.
