Escalating Pattern of Abuse
At approximately 8 a.m. on a Tuesday morning in Haines City, Florida, a 32‑year‑old woman identified as Jasmine Janae Cuyler seized an aluminum baseball bat and launched a violent assault on a male acquaintance, striking him repeatedly and smashing his television before fleeing the scene.
Cuyler then entered a white 2016 Toyota Corolla and deliberately rammed the vehicle into a sheriff’s patrol car that was responding to the disturbance. The collision forced a lockdown of a nearby elementary school as deputies secured the area.
Deputies pursued the car and eventually apprehended Cuyler after she refused to exit the vehicle and threatened to kill the responding officer. The arrest revealed a troubling pattern: she had been arrested three times within two years for similar acts of physical violence against the same victim.
Sheriff Grady Judd denounced the assault as an escalating threat, emphasizing that Cuyler’s actions endangered both the victim and the broader community. The incident also brought to light her former role as a sergeant at the Charlotte Correctional Institute, where she had previously been sentenced to probation for smuggling contraband into the facility.
