North Carolina Tar Heels pitcher Folger Boaz announced that he will forego the professional draft and return for his senior season in 2027, a move that promises to reinforce the team’s starting rotation and add depth to the 2027 staff.
A Boost for the 2027 Rotation
During the 2026 campaign Boaz served as the third weekend starter, appearing in 18 games and making 15 starts. He logged 59.1 innings with a 6.83 earned run average, surrendering 86 hits while delivering several quality outings.
Although he was considered an intriguing prospect, Boaz did not appear on many mock drafts, making his decision to remain in college a surprise that could significantly impact the Tar Heels’ pitching depth.
Near Miss at the College World Series
The Tar Heels came within one game of capturing their first-ever College World Series championship, falling just short in the final stretch of the tournament and leaving fans eager for a rebound.
