Forge Christian Secures Back‑to‑Back Class 2A Baseball Titles
Forge Christian capped an extraordinary season by defeating Monte Vista 12‑5 to claim its second straight Class 2A state baseball championship, finishing the year with a 27‑2 record.
Coach Jim Polson praised the team’s resilience and laser‑focus throughout the campaign, noting that a strong culture built on selfless hitting and collective responsibility set the squad apart.
Senior catcher Sam Buerck, a vocal leader on and off the field, repeatedly highlighted the role of faith and teamwork, saying the championship was as much about spiritual unity as athletic skill.
The offensive onslaught was anchored by performances from Carsen Hughes and Ivan Murphy, while freshman pitcher Jake Stocker made a decisive impact in relief, throwing 4.1 innings without allowing a run and capping the effort with a three‑run double that swung momentum.
Monte Vista, which finished 26‑2, saw both of its defeats come at the hands of Forge Christian, underscoring the dominance of the champions in their head‑to‑head matchups.
Additional contributors such as Easton Wilde, Ben McLean, Azariah Hurtado, Koby Jiron, Jonah Boykin, Owen Carlson and Manny Jiron helped sustain the offense and preserve leads, illustrating the depth of the roster.
The championship adds to Forge Christian’s storied baseball legacy, bringing the program’s total titles to five — three earned in Class 3A and two in Class 2A — and cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in Colorado high school sports.
